Is your child growing up? Is it time for twin or full size bed?

Here's what you will need to purchase:

1. Conversion rail kit: http://www.davincibaby.com/bedrails

2. Full or twin size mattress

3. Box spring

Just put it together, and you'll have a new bed!

Please note that the max. weight capacity on these bed rails is 500 lbs.

We are converting my sons Emily crib into a full size bed today.  Is there a weight limit once it's been converted to a full size bed?

Hi Lindsey and Hilary,

We've conducted a max strength test on our Full Size Conversion rails and our rails have surpassed the 500 lbs distributed static load test.

Our max capacity is no longer 165lbs on our bed rails, but 500 lbs of static load.

Sincerely,

Anthony So

it shows box springs but do you have to use box spirngs?  I'm afraid the bed will be too tall with both the mattress and box sping

Hi-

Thanks for your inquiry.

Unfortunately, our rails were made to be used with a box spring.  The mattress would not be supported on the rails without it.

Thanks,

I have the DaVinci Kailani crib, and want to convert it to a full-size bed. In the instruction manual, it says that standart metal full bed rails can be used instead of the ones sold through MDB if desired.

What kind do I need to buy? The bolt-on type, or the type with hooks that sink into an indention in the headboard and footboard?

Thank you.

Hi Lauren,

On  our cribs that convert to a full size bed  you would need to look for the bolt-on type of metal bed frame. On the legs of the cribs are two holes that you would attach the bed frame to and you just want to make sure the distance between the two hole on the legs will be the same distance on the bed frame.

Hope this helps.

Let me know if i confused you even more.

That's extremely helpful, thank you! Two more questions - does using metal rails instead of wood increase the weight it can hold? And if I use metal frames, it looks like I can only attach the headboard and not the footboard too. Is that right?

I dont know what the weight limit is for the metal rails, you would need to ask when you purchase them. As for our bed rails, the maximum weight for the Full Size Conversion Rails is 500 lbs.

I believe there are different types of metal bed frames. Some will attach just to the head board and other will attach to both head board and foot-board.

Does the conversion Kit come with slates? If not what is to stop the bed from falling?

With our bed rails you will only need the box spring and mattress.  You won’t need any type of slats or board for support. There is a lip on the bed rails and the box spring rests on the lip and the box spring is the only support you will need for the mattress.

Hello,

Can I use the Kalani 4i n 1 convertible crib with metal bed frames and a queen mattress?

You will be able to use a metal bed frame to convert the crib into a full size bed. Because of the size of the headboard and footboard you won’t be able to convert the crib into a queen size only a full size bed.

We have a Davinci Emily crib that we're looking to convert.  I wanted to confirm two things: 1) That the Emily converts to a Twin size bed as opposed to a Full size? 2) Do the metal frames sold at mattress stores work with the Davinci Emily headboard and footboard? (We need the center support of a metal frame)

Hi-

Unfortunately, the Emily crib only converts into a full sized bed.

Yes, you may use a metal frame to convert it into a full sized bed.

Thanks!
