Flat side of the spring frame

Have you been confused by the instructions that indicate to assemble the spring frame with the "flat side up"?  Above is the photo documenting this.  Please notice that the spring hooks are facing down in this picture.

I was confused by this part when setting up our Babyletto crib.....the picture you have shown, is that the "flat side up"? That is how we assembled it, plus it had a sticker on it stating "UPPER SIDE," but i wanted to make sure. Mainly because i don't feel like that is truly a "flat side" since springs are attached on the top.

I agree, this is really confusing.  This side has the spring facing down, but the other side is totally flat, with no springs hooking into the surface.  So can you please confirm that the picture shown is the correct way to assemble this?

Agree on the exact same questions. "Flat side" seems to me the side without the holes...except for the sticker that says "Upper Side" on the side with the holes. Please advise....I just tried calling the support number also.

After converting our crib to toddler set up, this frame bent.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I have owed other brand cribs and never has the structure been so weak to bend! It should be replaced by MDB. I would like feedback from other owners. TIA, AE

My frame also bent, and eventually a preteen sat on it and it snapped at the weakened place in the frame. Mine was also set up as a toddler bed, but had begun to bow in the middle while it was set up as a crib.

After converting ours into a toddler bed the frame bent that very same day. Hoping for a response for a free replacement.

So I just heard back from Customer service.  The part is $20 and shipping is $25...i feel as though the part should be free as well as the shipping.  Having paid $300+ for the crib, they are supplying low quality product.
